How it works

One grid. One chain. One puzzle a day.

Wickgrid is a daily logic deduction puzzle for iPhone, iPad and the web. Numeric clues tell you exactly which cells to light. No guessing, no luck. Simple rules, genuinely hard puzzles.

Lantern Dark
A solved board. Each number counts the lit cells touching it, every lantern joins one connected chain, and no four lit cells ever form a 2×2 block.

3 rules

The whole rulebook.

  1. Numeric clues tell you what to light

Each numbered cell counts how many of its four neighbors (up, down, left, right) are lit. A clue cell can itself be lit or dark. Every board is solved by deduction alone. There is always a next logical step, and never a guess.

  2. Every lit cell joins one connected chain

All lit cells must link edge to edge into a single continuous chain. No islands and no disconnected clusters. If a lit group can't reach the rest, the solution is wrong.

  3. No 2×2 block of lit cells

Four adjacent cells may never all be lit at once. This single constraint is what forces the chain to wind, and what makes late-week boards genuinely hard.

Want it harder? Blackout Mode in the app turns off all feedback: no confirmation, no error highlighting, only your own deduction.

The puzzle

Harder every day of the week

Easy on Monday, Expert by Saturday, Extreme on Sunday. Every board is verified solvable by logic alone, so there is always a next step and never a guess.

6 questions

Frequently asked.

What is Wickgrid?

A daily logic grid puzzle for iPhone, iPad and the web. Light the correct cells using numeric clues, form one connected chain, and avoid any 2×2 block of lit cells. A new puzzle releases every day at 00:00 UTC.

Is Wickgrid free to play?

Yes. The daily puzzle is always free, in the app and at wickgrid.app/play, and the app keeps your last 7 dailies playable. Each puzzle comes with 3 free hints. Wickgrid Plus is a one-time $4.99 unlock for the full archive, unlimited hints, Streak Freeze and advanced stats. No subscriptions, no ads.

How is Wickgrid different from Sudoku or Nonogram?

Sudoku is number placement. Nonogram fills a picture from row and column counts. Wickgrid has its own rule set: light cells so they form one connected chain with no 2×2 block ever lit. It rewards the same careful deduction with a different set of constraints.

Can I play in a browser?

Yes. Today's puzzle is playable at wickgrid.app/play, the same board as the app, and unlimited practice at every difficulty is at wickgrid.app/practice. Your progress and streak are saved in that browser.

Does Wickgrid have ads or collect data?

No. Wickgrid runs fully offline, needs no account, and collects no data, at any tier.

What platforms is Wickgrid on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, plus today's puzzle in any modern browser.
